Flower Pots is owned by Madeleine and Brain Whitlock. Madeleine has years of childcare experience and therefore works part-time within the nursery, and Brian is a qualified chef who cooks all of the fresh home made food for the children each day.
Flower Pots opened in October 2006 and is now registered to care for up to eighteen children between the ages of three months and five years. We are open Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. all year round except for public bank holidays. We offer full day care, morning and afternoon sessions for all age groups (up to the age of five years).
We follow the Birth to Three Matters framework for children under the age of three to ensure they can enjoy learning, and the planning of activities is completed in accordance to the children’s progress of development. As each child reaches the age of three there is a smooth transition to the Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage, teaching the six area’s of learning, these are:
Mathematical development,
Physical development,
Creative development,
Knowledge and understanding of the world,
Personal, emotional and social development,
Communication, language and literacy.
There is a full booklet given to parents on both Birth to Three Matters and the Foundation Stage when a child starts at the nursery. This is to ensure parents feel informed and involved with their child’s learning and have an understanding of how we implement educational activities which are fun for the children.
We have a large garden area for the children to enjoy physical activity. They go outside at least twice a day and there is a wide range of outdoor activities for them to explore. We also take the children out for walks to places like the local library so the children can have story time and choose books they would like to borrow and read at the nursery.
